Its a wrap

From Author Iain Cambridge

Tonight we wrapped up shooting for our book project "Third Party Theft and Desire". What a great team of super talented people. I loved every minute of it. Now we wait for the final proofing and editing before production begins.

Whats it about

The Produce Manager at Pak’n Save, The Manageress at Resene Paints and a Photographer for Shifting Light Photography may seem an unlikely combination but these three people have come together to create something quite wonderful. Iain Cambridge first approached Sam Rae about six months ago in regards to modelling for a collection of short stories he had written. ‘Sam was very responsive to the idea’ says Iain, ‘on reading the drafts she came up with some wonderful ideas’

Sam’s alter ego is well known to TeAwamutu as Dolly D’Ville, the stage name she uses in her successful Burlesque show and master classes she runs for women in the art of tease in and around the TeAwamutu area. Although the main character of the story was not based on Sam, her attitude and positive body image was definitely the inspiration. Sam immediately drafted Keith Maynard into the project as she had worked with him on many of her photo shoots. I found Keith to be as excited and as on board with the project as both Sam and I were and it was very clear from the first meeting that he had some amazing ideas.

The main aim of this venture is to raise money and public awareness for a charity known as Parent to Parent, who are a nationwide non profit organization formed in 1983 by a

group of parents and professionals who believed in the value of parents supporting parents when faced with the challenge of parenting a child with a disability or health impairment.

Since starting this project Iain, Sam and Keith have enlisted the help of other actors such as Phill Palmer, Carlos Cordero and make-up artist Brooke Mears all of which have given their time, locations and in one instance a light aircraft, all for free and have helped turn the project into something quite inspiring.

‘These people are wonderful and ask nothing in return for their help. I feel humbled that all I can offer them is a mention in the acknowledgements when the book is printed’ Iain goes on to say that ‘I still need more help and would like the support of local businesses in TeAwamutu making a small donation when the book is ready to publish.

I would ideally like $100 from ten businesses in order to buy a significant amount of books therefore enabling us to organise a book signing.

100% of all the profits we make will go to Parent to Parent and when we sell the signed books we get another bite at the cherry, making more money for this worthwhile charity.

Anyone donating to this project in any way will be named in the books acknowledgments page by way of a thank you’
